MAZZARÓN
Mazzarón is situated 42 km from Murcia International Airport and around 70 km from the city of Murcia. Is a small town, the centre of which is located 9 km inland from the sea. The beach area of Mazzarón is called Puerto de Mazzarón and has a wonderful coastal line of 35 km.
The name derives from its occupation in the time of the Moors, who named the town Almzarron, which came from the Arabic al-mezer, meaning ochre or red. The regions minerals are rich in this area, hence the title.This town has a lot of sights with historic and cultural value, so it can be a great destination for a day trip, which can be finished by stopping at Puerto de Mazzarón to explore the beach area and have a lovely dinner.
The beaches of Mazzarón were awarded with Blue Flags several times and the World Health Organization claim Murcia region as one of the cleanest regions in Spain with lowest level of industrial pollution.
