ORIHUELA COSTA
Orihuela Costa area is basically a part of the coastal area that belongs to the city of Orihuela or in other words a satellite town of Orihuela, situated in around 45 km from Alicante airport. It is a long coastal city that encompasses such areas as Punta Prima, Playa Framenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Dehesa de Campoamor, Villamartin and Mil Palmeras. Orihuela Costa is a very versatile resort town, with lots of different beaches and coves, 4 excellent golf courses, amazing shopping experience and large residential area with all kind of properties.
Punta Prima is the closest area to Torrevieja and is known for its big urbanisations, lots of different bars and restaurants and a couple of lovely beached that were awarded with Blue Flags. You can find such activities as go kart, aero diving and different water sports in Punta Prima area.
Playa Flamenca is the next area to the South from Punta Prima, which received its name due to a large colony of Belgians that were massively buying properties in that area. Since Flemish in Spanish is Flamenco, the area was called the Flemish Beach - Playa Flamenca. Today this area has become home for people from all over Europe. It has a nice sandy beach, weekly farmers’ street market and lots of other activities available for its residents.
It is safe to say that the next area, which is La Zenia is the so called centre of Orihuela Costa, since it has the biggest commercial area, which attracts the absolute majority of people to this area. La Zenia Boulevard is the biggest open air shopping mall probably in whole Costa Blanca region. It attracts thousands of people daily thanks to the variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Also it has an entertainment centre and a large playground and amusement park for kids. Also, this area is known for lots of international restaurants with daily or weekly live music shows.
Also, La Zenia Hotel is one of the best hotels in Orihuela Costa located right at the beach front next to La Zenia Beach. This beach usually hosts the Christmas parties, when all the people come with their picnic tables and portable barbeques to celebrate Christmas with friends, family and neighbours at the beach.
Villamartin is a hilly and very green area situated a bit more inland than the other neighbourhoods of Orihuela Costa.
You will find fewer commercial areas here and more tranquillity and greenery together with several gold clubs. Villamartin looks very much as residential area with stunning villas and lovely urbanisations. There is a central plaza, which offers numerous restaurants with different cuisines and they also hold evening music shows in there. It is a perfect area for those, who like playing golf and prefers to live apart yet together.
Cabo Roig and Dehesa de Campoamor areas are known to be a bit more privileged with lots of detached large houses located on big plots. Both areas have beautiful beaches with different beach bars and lovely beach promenades. These areas have a lot of greenery and mostly inhabited by Spanish. You can find horse riding center in Campoamor area as well as Campoamor golf course.
Finally, Mil Palmeras area is not a big area; however it is located very close to the sea and is known for being a bit more peaceful than other areas of Orihuela Costa. This is a rather new area with lots of new developments with stunning sea views.
