SAN JAVIER

San Javier is situated in 81 km from Alicante Airport and 33 km from International Murcia Airport. It is a small town, located around 3 km inland from the beach, with permanent population of approximately 30.000 people.

Very popular coastal area of San Javier is called Santiago de la Ribera, where you will find a lovely promenade perfectly suitable for cycling and having long walks along the beach and stop by one of the beach bars for a drink.

This area also has numerous typical Spanish beach houses as well as modern looking villas. The beach of Santiago de la Ribera is a great choice for families with small children for the shallow waters of Mar Menor lagoon and fine sand. 

San Javier airport, which is located right at the coast used to have international commercial flights, however all the commercial flights were redirected to Murcia International airport in Corvera in 2018, leaving San Javier airport only for military purposes.

The General Air Academy is still functioning on the premises of San Javier airport.  

Recently lots of new residential construction resumed in San Javier area, since there is more land available for new developments closer to the sea compared to coastal line of Costa Blanca.
