SANTA POLA

Santa Pola is a quiet and peaceful town located in 13 km from Alicante airport.

Legally it belongs to Elche city and considered to be as its coastal part along with areas such as Gran Alacant, El Altet and Los Arenales del Sol.  

Santa Pola has a wide sandy beach called Playa Levante, which was awarded with the Blue Flag and also another beautiful beach Playa de Varadero. Both are perfectly suitable for long family beach days. Also, local beaches are suitable for water sports such as windsurfing and kite surfing. Even world championships are organized in Santa Pola. 

You will be able to explore the famous Salinas de Santa Pola (Santa Pola salt lakes). This area occupies 2.4 hectares and it is a protected reserve area for the conservation of wild birds. Also it is an industrial area, where natural salt is being extracted and exported all over the world.

You can even visit the Salt Museum, where you will be able to find more about salt extraction.  If you take the highway N-332 heading South, you will notice huge salt piles near the lakes and lots of flamingos in the lake water.
