TORREVIEJA
Torrevieja is one of the biggest and most populated towns in Costa Blanca. It is situated 43 km away from Alicante airport, between La Mata Lagoon and Salinas de Torrevieja.
Torrevieja experienced a massive expenditure over past decades turning from a typical small fisherman’s village to a quite densely populated coastal town with huge variety of businesses and affordable dwelling.
Torrevieja is rather active town all year long. There is a huge variety of activities for people of different age and with different interests. The town center offers a huge variety of top class restaurants and quite decent choice of small shops and boutiques for shopping lovers. Near industrial area of Torrevieja you will find an open air shopping mall called Habaneras , surrounded by supermarkets and fast food restaurants together with entertainment centre Ozon, where you will find modern bowling centre, cinema and an amusement arcade centre. You will also find Torrevieja aqua park in the same area.
Torrevieja has several beaches, the most central and popular one is Playa del Cura , which is located right by the main beach promenade. It is not the biggest beach in the town, but definitely the most crowded one, especially during summer. Los Locos beach is situated quite near to the center as well and is a much longer and wider beach than Playa del Cura and it is perfect for long family beach days. La Mata beach is considered to be the best beach of Torrevieja since it is linked to the natural beach of Guardamar del Segura with fine golden sand.
Finally, there is Naufragos beach , which is located in the Southern part of Torrevieja right next to point where ships get loaded with the salt that was extracted from the bottom of the Salt Lake. The salt is being delivered to the ship straight from the stockpile via conveyor belt.
La Mata Natural Park is a famous preserved area perfect for hiking and cycling. It attracts a lot of photographers for its amazing sunset views. Also, you will find special viewing cabins throughout the park to look at unique bird species that inhabit this area.
